Guest Article from The Big Red Illustration Agency!
It's always awesome whenever I receive a guest article and even better when it carries such an important message. We all know that the creative industry is a growth area, but until you start to see the numbers it is really hard to visualize.
So this week our friends at The Big Red Illustration Agency have pulled this infographic together for us, so we can see the real story. It's a very similar story in other areas around the world too!
The creative industry continues to expand and progress year on year in terms of profit, growth and opportunity for creatives. It’s hardly surprising that the creative industries combined contributed a record breaking £91.8 billion to the UK economy in 2016 (according to official statistics).
The same year also shown that sub-sectors within the creative industry grew their economic contribution by 44.8%, that’s more than a quarter of a billion pounds each day to the UK – big numbers that are only expected to increase annually.
Karen Bradley, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, stated that:
"Britain’s creative industries play an essential role shaping how we are seen around the world but as these new statistics show they are also a vital part of the economy. The sector is now one of our fastest growing industries and continues to outperform the wider UK economy. This is a testament to the talent and drive of its workforce and we are working closely with them to make sure this fantastic success continues."
The Employment figures are also steadily on the rise, with the UK creative industries employing 2 million people alone in 2015.
Don't worry, we won’t dive in to the stats too much right now, we’ll let the visual below do the talking.
